About us

Built by South African traders, for South African traders

TradeCalc ZA is an independent project. No corporate team, no VC backing β€” just accurate tools for people who trade forex with a ZAR account.

Why we built this

Every forex calculator we tried defaulted to USD. For a South African retail trader whose account, broker, and bank are all in rand, that extra conversion step is a constant friction point: what does that pip value actually mean in my money?

26
instruments across forex, metals, indices and crypto
10
account currencies, converted at the live rate
8
calculators, no sign-up and no email
ECB
reference rates, refreshed each business day

We wanted a tool that spoke the same language we do. ZAR first. Live rates, not hardcoded approximations from months ago. FSCA-regulated brokers, not offshore entities with no local oversight.

So we built TradeCalc ZA. Six calculators covering every number you run before and after placing a trade. Free. No sign-up. No ads interrupting your workflow. Just the calculation.

We're a small independent team with a background in trading and software. We're not a licensed broker, we're not a bank, and we're not trying to be. We make calculators β€” and we try to make them really well.

"What does that pip value mean in my money?" β€” that question, asked once too many times, is why TradeCalc ZA exists.

What we stand for

Four principles that guide every decision we make about this site.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure on this site is one of six things, and each one has a source and a refresh rate. If a source does not answer, the calculator says so in its status line rather than quietly showing an old number.

FigureSourceRefreshedWhat it is not
Currency rates European Central Bank reference rates once each business day reference rates, not live bid/ask
Currencies the ECB does not publish a second public rate source through the day used only for those currencies
Gold and silver spot metal price through the day spot, not a tokenised proxy
Crypto public market data through the day indicative
Index levels public market data through the day point values follow your broker's contract, not a market convention
Contract specifications the broker's published instrument pages when they change verify in your own platform before sizing
  • We do not place trades, hold funds, or connect to your account.
  • We do not ask for an email, and the calculators run entirely in your browser.
  • The figures are for working out a position before you open it β€” your broker's own numbers are the ones that settle.
R

ZAR-first, always

Every calculator outputs in rand by default. We use live ECB reference rates on every page load β€” not hardcoded approximations. If the rate moved this morning, your calculation reflects that.

βœ“

FSCA regulation only

We feature one broker on this site. That broker holds a current FSCA authorisation as a Financial Services Provider. We will not recommend a broker that isn't regulated in South Africa, regardless of commission.

β—‹

Editorially independent

Our ratings and editorial assessments are based on publicly verifiable information β€” FSCA register, broker documentation, stated trading conditions. We do not accept payment for positive coverage.

∞

Free forever

The calculators are free. They will stay free. We sustain the site through a single transparent affiliate relationship with FxPro β€” disclosed clearly on every page that contains an affiliate link.

How we verify what we publish

The FxPro review and all editorial content on this site is based on publicly available information: regulatory status confirmed via fsca.co.za, stated trading conditions from the broker's own documentation, and platform availability we have verified directly. We update content when conditions change.

What we commit to, and where you can check it

CommitmentWhat it means in practiceWhere to check
We name the affiliate relationship Every page that links to the broker carries the disclosure, not just this one. the disclosure box below, and the box on the broker page
We are not paid for a favourable opinion The commission is for a referral, not for a verdict, and the drawbacks stay on the page. the drawbacks list on the broker page
We publish where each figure comes from Rates name their source, and a source that fails is named as failed rather than hidden. the status line on every calculator
We are not a licensed adviser The calculators work out a position; what you trade is your decision and your broker's execution. the risk warning in the footer of every page
We correct what readers catch A changed regulation or a wrong figure gets fixed, and the page carries the current number afterwards. the contact page

If you find an error β€” a changed regulation, an incorrect figure, outdated information β€” contact us and we will correct it. We'd rather be embarrassed for a day than wrong for a year.

Our relationship with FxPro

TradeCalc ZA earns a referral commission when a visitor opens a trading account with FxPro through a link on this site. The commission is paid by FxPro β€” not by you β€” and does not affect the fees, spreads or conditions of your account in any way.

We chose FxPro because it meets the criteria we set before building this site: FSCA authorisation and ZAR-denominated accounts. The affiliate relationship followed that decision, not the other way around.

Full affiliate disclosure

TradeCalc ZA participates in the FxPro affiliate programme. We may receive compensation when you open an account or make a qualifying deposit via links on this site. This compensation does not influence the calculator outputs, which are computed solely from the values you enter and live ECB exchange rates. We do not receive payment for editorial ratings or reviews.

What TradeCalc ZA is not

TradeCalc ZA is not a licensed financial services provider, investment adviser, or broker. Nothing on this site constitutes financial, investment or trading advice. Exchange rates are sourced from ECB reference data for calculation purposes only β€” they are not live trading quotes and must not be used to execute trades.

Trading forex and CFDs carries a high level of risk to your capital. Losses can and do exceed initial deposits. These products are not suitable for all investors. If you are unsure, seek independent financial advice before trading.
